From March 7 to 9, the most important players in the international travel industry will come together again at the ITB Berlin Convention 2023 under the motto “Mastering Transformation” to discuss the most important industry topics.
Dr. Markus Heller, Managing Partner of Dr. Fried & Partner, is particularly looking forward to the ITB Berlin Convention 2023: As a member of the Board of Experts, he is responsible for shaping the Tour Operator, Travel Sales, Cruise and Carrier theme tracks. Below is a first insight into the most important topics of the track:
New business logic for tour operators and travel sales
After years of crisis that have had a major impact on the industry, business logic is currently being rethought and value creation models revised. The ITB Tour Operator & Travel Sales Track will show how the current transformation process is keeping tour operators and travel sales companies on their toes and changing the market environment in the long term. Among other things, it will shed light on how the business models of traditional tour operators and high-reach sales platforms are increasingly overlapping, how corporations, SMEs and start-ups are driving the transformation in tourism and which approaches and solutions promise the greatest success.
Market responses to current challenges in the air travel and cruise industry
The ITB Carrier & Cruise Track examines the transformation from the perspective of the service providers. Aviation, for example, is caught between the conflicting priorities of decarbonization and cost pressure on the one hand and sometimes dramatic changes in booking and travel behaviour on the other in a rapidly changing market environment.
The cruise industry is affected by no less significant challenges, which have their roots in both the energy crisis and the armed conflict on Europe’s borders. As a result, supply bottlenecks as well as energy and resource shortages are having a negative impact on the supply of services, while demand has not yet returned to pre-crisis levels.
The industry’s leading experts will provide insights into best practices and discuss how to overcome the current challenges.
