The travel industry is currently undergoing a technological revolution. An increasing number of tour operators and airlines are using artificial intelligence to manage flight and hotel prices in real time.
Market players are using AI to varying degrees. Dr Markus Heller, the managing director of Dr Fried & Partner considers this to be a key trend because everyone is now trying to use AI. However he also warns of the risks posed by models that have not been sufficiently trained, which can lead to incorrect prices or undesirable market movements.
The increasing use of AI in pricing creates new opportunities for the tourism industry but it also makes the market more complex and unpredictable. This marks the start of an uncertain period of changes for providers and travellers alike.
