For this reason, <a href=\"https:\/\/fried-partner.de\/\">Dr. Fried &amp; Partner<\/a> has launched a <strong>sustainability initiative<\/strong> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufthansagroup.com\/de\/home.html\">Lufthansa Group<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/aida.de\/\">AIDA Cruises<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestwestern.de\/\">BWH Hotels<\/a>. The aim is to strengthen the dialog between service providers and sales, identify the challenges in marketing sustainable travel services and jointly develop solutions for the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Joint workshops with travel agencies and sales partners\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In October, travel agents and representatives from travel sales came together for the first time for a workshop in Hamburg. This was followed at the beginning of November by the second workshop as part of the initiative, this time in a location that is also focused on sustainability: the Community Kitchen in Munich. The workshops were accompanied by representatives of the service providers, including Michael Nau and Tim Fischbach from Lufthansa, Konstantin Meier from Eurowings and Mirja Albers, Martina Reuter, Alexander Ewig and Hans-Hennig Beyer from AIDA. Carmen D\u00fccker, Alexander Birk and Andreas Westerburg from BWH Hotels accompanied the workshops.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two events focused on the topic of sustainability in sales, which we examined from different perspectives using various creative methods and panel discussions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>challenges<\/strong> faced by travel agencies and sales partners are manifold:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lack of uniform standards and lack of transparency in the certification market&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lack of information and knowledge about sustainable measures and travel services&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lack of a central platform for travel agents that offers quick and clear access to relevant information&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Awareness of sustainable travel options among end customers&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lack of incentives for end customers to book sustainable travel services and difficulties for travel agencies to communicate a topic that requires a lot of advice in a comprehensible way&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainability: necessity and sales opportunity\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshops in Hamburg and Munich enabled an intensive exchange between service providers and travel sales. Valuable input was also provided by sustainability experts such as Ralf Hieke from <a href=\"https:\/\/fairweg.de\/\">\u201cFairweg\u201d<\/a>, Kerstin Schmidt from the <a href=\"https:\/\/reisenneugedacht.de\/\">travel agency \u201creisenneugedacht\u201d<\/a> and Andreas Kindlimann from <a href=\"https:\/\/lufthansa-city-center.com\/de\/\">LCC<\/a> \u201cGr\u00fcnes Reiseb\u00fcro\u201d. There was a consensus that travel agencies that address the issue of sustainability <em>NOW<\/em> can gain a competitive advantage. The discussions about possible solutions and future sales opportunities were also particularly exciting.
